This CD is the 44th volume of Shogakukan's series Vienna Philharmonic: Enchanting Masterpieces, featuring a selection of famous pieces from Promenade Concerts that allow you to enjoy the brilliant and elegant sound of the Vienna Philharmonic. It includes masterpieces by composers associated with Vienna, from Suppé's lively overtures to Lehár's graceful waltzes and Schubert's powerful marches.

The performers include maestros with a very deep connection to the Vienna Philharmonic. The performance conducted by Willy Boskovsky, in particular, is exquisite, with a supple and sophisticated rhythm that shows the perfect coordination only he could achieve, having served as the Vienna Philharmonic's concertmaster for many years. It also includes the spirited Light Cavalry by Solti and the weighty yet warm Military March by Knappertsbusch, capturing the sound of a golden age passed down through generations beyond the recording dates. The orchestra's inherent beauty is maximized, making this a truly condensed piece of Viennese musical joy.
