Yamaha Venova YVS-100 [Custom Painted = Light Blue]
Purchased in 2019 and used intermittently for 2-3 years. However, I now have more instruments like EWI and sax, and I also feel it doesn't suit my finger thickness, etc. (to be precise, it's technically difficult lol), so I've decided to sell it.
As you can see, this is a rare and unique Venova, custom-painted a vibrant sky blue (water-based spray paint). It might look fluorescent in the photos, but this blue is like a darker version of the sky blue on Kawasaki Frontale's uniform in the J.League. It's not a garish blue fluorescent color.
To be honest, at the time, the spray paint had clumps, creating a rough texture like painting the exterior of a house. But I decided to just go with it and continued painting. Therefore, the exterior is strikingly unique. How about using it for a gag at a year-end party or music event?
When I played it again for this listing (December 2025), it produced sound properly. There should be no functional issues. Regarding changes in pitch, etc., due to the paint, another user who painted their Venova previously commented that the sound actually became more stable. I had the same experience.
In fact, even the unpainted Venova is difficult. If you're playing in C major or nearby keys, even with average skill, you can play it like a recorder. However, for pieces that are more complex, like those with many black keys on a piano, it becomes quite difficult.
If someone says I can't play it!, it's hard to tell if it's the instrument's fault or the player's skill... but I think it's probably more dependent on skill. My fingertips are also small, so the instrument's characteristics weren't suited for me. Also, I'm more inclined towards Jazz and Fusion, so I often deviate from the C major scale.
In the photos, you can see scuffs on the mouthpiece (①) and rust-like age-related deterioration on the ligature (②). Other than that, I don't think there are any other points of concern regarding age-related deterioration.
In addition to the original plastic reed (③), I'm also including two unused D'Addario Select Jazz Unfiled reeds for soprano saxophone (④).
I'm also including the separately sold instructional book Hajimete no Venova (Yamaha Music Media). However, please understand that it may need to be bent to fit in the packaging.
