Edo Kiriko is not just a beautiful glass; it is a work of art born from an exquisite blend of Edo's townspeople culture and Western techniques. Edo Kiriko began in the late Edo period, in the 5th year of Tenpo (1834). It is said to have started when Kyūbei Kagaya, a glass craftsman from Edo's Odensho-cho, engraved the surface of glass with diamond powder.
