This tailcoat is designed for the most formal white tie (full dress) attire. It was worn in the social settings of the upper class during that era, and this is a custom-made, bespoke piece tailored specifically for the individual, not an off-the-rack item.

The garment shows almost no damage and is in excellent condition, indicating that the original owner cherished this high-quality piece.

The material is Barathea. Barathea is a worsted wool fabric woven in a change warp rib (yokoune) structure. Compared to common twill weaves, it reflects less light, allowing for a deeper, more substantial black. You can observe a matte, deep texture that seems to absorb light. It also possesses a balance of moderate stiffness and suppleness, making it suitable for maintaining the beautiful swallowtail lines and structured silhouette that are characteristic of tailcoats.

When actually worn, the size corresponds to a US size 48. The actual measurements are: shoulder width 50cm, chest width 52cm, length 113cm, sleeve length 65cm, and sleeve length from center back 90cm.
