This is a high-quality Noto traditional charcoal grill.
This is a listing for a KIDASHI (carved) traditional charcoal grill made from natural diatomaceous earth.

This is a luxurious item, meticulously carved by artisans using chisels, a purely domestic product made from natural diatomaceous earth. Its craftsmanship and performance are undeniable.

Furthermore, this is a rare, discontinued model with a separate fire bowl, no longer available for purchase. It comes as a complete set with luxurious accessories, including a highly durable iron band.

While many Noto diatomaceous earth products are pressed (kneaded) items, this is a genuine KIDASHI traditional charcoal grill, offering exceptional charcoal longevity, far-infrared effects, insulation, durability, and superior grilling results.

When using Kishu Binchotan charcoal, which burns bright red, the sight of it burning is so beautiful that you'll lose track of time just gazing at it.

Due to the Noto Peninsula earthquake on New Year's Day, KIDASHI traditional charcoal grills are currently difficult to obtain.

How about this for those who love them, collectors, or as a backup stock?
We highly recommend considering this authentic traditional charcoal grill, which will make your food exceptionally delicious, even if you've never used one before.

Diatomaceous earth is soil (soft rock) formed by the accumulation of dead plant plankton (diatoms).

While three-quarters of the Noto Peninsula is composed of this diatomaceous earth, only certain areas, such as Suzu City, can actually be mined.

There are two types: KIDASHI traditional charcoal grills, made by carving blocks of excavated diatomaceous earth, and kneaded products, made by crushing diatomaceous earth and mixing it with other clays and sawdust before molding and firing in a metal mold.

KIDASHI traditional charcoal grills are made by carving directly from the diatomaceous earth layer, preserving the air pockets within the block without crushing it. This results in excellent insulation and maximizes charcoal combustion. The chisel marks left by the artisans are also beautiful.

The history of diatomaceous earth KIDASHI traditional charcoal grills, made exclusively in Suzu City, Okunoto, dates back to the Muromachi period.

The diatomaceous earth layer in Suzu City is said to have been deposited 20 million years ago and is characterized by its uniform and deep layers.

This carving method is called the KIDASHI method because the tunnels are dug into the diatomaceous earth layer.

Artisans meticulously craft these grills.
