Produced in Flemington, New Jersey, during the mid-20th century in the 1940's & 1950's, these collectible art pottery sculptures feature a vibrant glossy glaze and are highly sought after by vintage bird decor enthusiasts. In the Stangl Pottery factory, when a piece came out of the kiln with minor glaze flaws, firing anomalies, or color variations, inspectors marked the unglazed base with simple paint slashes or dashes to categorize it as a second.
