Montbell Storm Biker Jacket L 1131313 (Reason for Discount)

Storm Cruiser #1131313 (Sunset Orange)
Brand: mont-bell Size L

Purchased new in Autumn 2022 and used for commuting approximately 40 minutes round trip on rainy days.

The reason for the 訳あり (reason for defect/discount) can be confirmed in images 3-5. After washing and drying in a drum-type washing machine after each use, I once set the drying time to manual and extended it (not on auto). This caused the three-layer fabric to completely delaminate, significantly reducing its waterproof function.

When the delamination occurred, the membrane in the middle layer developed dozens of holes, which I have repaired with outdoor repair tape (Tenacious Tape Repair Tape). The delamination of the three-layer fabric can be temporarily re-adhered by air-drying after washing and then ironing. However, if ridden in moderate to heavy rain, it will delaminate again.

In my case, my commute is about 25 minutes one way, and when worn after ironing, my inner clothing did not get noticeably wet. I believe this was also due to the effect of the mont-bell water repellent used during washing. In fact, I used it for about a year, including the rainy season, after the fabric delaminated.

I have purchased a new GORE-TEX rain jacket, so I considered discarding this one, but I believe it still has value as a spare rain coat.

However, it requires washing, air-drying, and ironing for every heavy rain. Also, waterproofing cannot be expected without using water repellents or similar products.

Please understand the above before purchasing. No returns accepted.
